5th TENCompetence Open Workshop - Sofia 2008

The second of two open-workshops held in Sofia, this event set out to identify and analyse state-of-the-art research and technologies in the fields that provide the building blocks for the development of an open source competence development infrastructure.

Run over a two day period, the event included a total of fifteen presentations from TENCompetence partners, Associate Partners and interested parties from outside the project.

This call for participation seeks users of the social bookmarking platform http://www.delicious.com/ who are interested in participating in the pilot study of ReScope (http://lnx-otecexp-005v.ou.nl/rescope/). This study analyzes how reflection on tagging and bookmarking can be stimulated with a personal tag cloud visualisation.

Widget technologies in focus

Desktop and web widgets are handy little things providing computer users with instantly available functions ranging from clocks to calenders to calculators to mention but a few of the more mundane applications.

Combining simplicity with versatility, widgets have captured the imagination of TENCompetence researchers at the University of Bolton's Institute of Educational Cybernetics who are looking for ways to integrate chat and voting facilities into Learning Design runtime tools. 

TENCompetence workshop at ALT-C 2008

This year's Advanced Learning Technology Conference will take place at the University of Leeds in the UK from the 9th to the 11th of September.

 

The theme of the conference is "Rethinking the Digital Divide" and TENCompetence will be running a 90 minute hands-on workshop to allow participants to explore and evaluate the RTD outcomes of the TENCompetence project for themselves. The workshop is open to all and will be of particular interest to those working in the fields of competence frameworks, lifelong learning and distributed learning.
